Introduction

The wait for something out of the ordinary on Indian roads is finally over with the introduction of the MG Cyberster, being India’s first-ever electric roadster.

Priced at Rs. 74.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Cyberster was launched on July 25, 2025. It combines head-turning looks with instant EV performance.

Deliveries begin August 10, and the excitement is already electric. In this blog, we will see what new features this car comes with and what new changes this launch of the MG Cyberster brings to the Indian car market.

Price, Positioning, and Who It’s For

The MG Cyberster isn’t rolling out through regular showrooms. You’ll only find it at MG Select dealerships, the brand’s premium network that also sells the MG M9. This isn’t a car built for everyone. It’s aimed at buyers who want speed, style, and something rare enough to make people stare at traffic lights.

The MG Cyberster is truly unparalleled, as there is no other electric sports convertible car available in India currently. Closest rival is the BMW Z4, priced at Rs. 92.90 lakh. That leaves the Cyberster around Rs. 17.90 lakh lower without depriving you of a roof-down experience.

The price also comes with a 3.3 kW portable charger, a 7.4 kW wall box charger, and normal installation. You can reserve one with Rs. 51,000 at MG Select showrooms in major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, and Hyderabad.

The Look: Classic Inspiration, Modern Execution

MG drew inspiration from its 1960s MGB Roadster and returned it with a complete EV transformation. Result? A sports car that’s retro but forward in thinking. It comes with the following features:

  • Five-second-opening scissor doors with radar sensors to prevent bumping into things.
  • Soft-top convertible roof that opens in less than 15 seconds.
  • Petal-shaped LED projector headlights with sharp DRLs.
  • Arrow-shaped LED rear lights connected by a satin light bar.
  • 20-inch staggered alloys shod with high-performance Pirelli P-Zero tires.
  • In terms of size, it measures 4,535 mm long, 1,913 mm wide, and 1,329 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. Kerb weight is 1,985 kg.
  • You have four dual-tone paint schemes: Flare Red with a black top, Nuclear Yellow with a black top, Andes Grey with a black top, and Modern Beige with a red top.

Inside the Cabin

  • The first thing you’ll see when you enter the car is that the dashboard is like that of a cockpit of a fighter plane, with everything designed keeping the driver’s needs in mind. Everything’s facing you, poised for action.
  • Front and centre is a three-screen display: a large 10.25-inch touchscreen in the middle, with two smaller 7-inch screens on either side for driver information.
  • Down on the console, there’s a vertical 7-inch screen reserved just for climate controls. Leaves the main screen clear for maps, music, and whatever else you’ll need.
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto eliminate the need for cables invading the interior.
  • The Bose 8-speaker setup produces sharp sound, and noise cancellation keeps the world outside where it should be.
  • A 360-degree camera makes parking and fitting into narrow places a whole lot less stressful.
  • Seating combines vegan leather with Dinamica suede—comfortable but sporty. They are heated, entirely electric, and adjust to exactly how you like to sit.
  • Dual-zone climate control with PM2.5 filtration ensures a fresh atmosphere for the driver and passenger.
  • Place your phone on the wireless charging pad and it’s charging up before you reach your destination.
  • Paddle shifters allow you to adjust the regenerative braking, either for aggressive slow-downs in city traffic or a light feel on the highway.

Performance and Power

  • MG Cyberster accelerates fast and is fun to drive. Its dual-motor all-wheel drive produces 510 PS and 725 Nm torque, which helps take this vehicle from 0-100 km/h in just a matter of 3.2 seconds. Its top speed is 200 km/h.
  • It is powered through a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery that is just 110 mm thick. Under a fully charged state, it goes up to 580 km (MIDC certified).
  • Charging is fast if you charge using a 144 kW DC fast charger—10% to 80% in 38–40 minutes. Charging with the 7.4 kW wall box in your home will take 12 hours for a full charge.
  • The vehicle employs a double wishbone at the front and a multi-link system at the back. Its ideal 50:50 weight distribution makes it stable and agile in corners.

Safety and Driver Assistance

MG Cyberster comes packed with a full set of safety and driver-aid features to keep both performance and protection in balance:

  • It contains four airbags for passenger and driver safety.
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which provides grip and stability in case of sudden manoeuvres.
  • Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with live driver monitoring for enhanced traffic safety.
  • Four-piston Brembo brakes with the ability to brake the car from 100 km/h to zero in 33 meters.
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to notify you of pressure losses.
  • Side Stability Factor (1.83) for improved rollover protection and better cornering stability.

Warranty and Support

  • Lifelong warranty on the first registered owner’s battery.
  • 3-year car warranty with unlimited kilometres.
  • 3-year roadside service with unlimited kms.
  • One free inspection at 2 months or 2,000 km (whichever comes first).
  • Up to 5 years or 1.5 lakh kilometres optional extended warranty.
  • Extended roadside service is offered for 5 years.
  • Peace of Mind package including preventive maintenance and wear-and-tear parts for 5 years or 75,000 km.

Charging Network

MG is expanding its EV charging network aggressively, along with partners such as Charge Zone and others.

  • There are more than 12,000 charging stations available in India right now.
  • These are present in cities, on highways, and at MG dealerships for easy access.
  • The network continues to expand, making long road trips and weekend escapades in the Cyberster more easily planned.

Where It Stands in the Indian Market

The MG Cyberster occupies a special place in the Indian car market.

It faces no direct competition in the electric convertible sports car segment.

Closest petrol-powered options are the BMW Z4 and the Porsche 718 Boxster.

Electric vehicles such as the Kia EV6 and Tesla Model Y are different in body design and intention.

This car blends open-top motoring, electric power, and affordable pricing in a manner no other vehicle does in India, which makes it a special and rare car.

Conclusion

MG Cyberster EV, priced at Rs. 74.99 lakh, is India’s leap towards an electric car culture. It is India’s first electric roadster, which combines classic British style with modern electric technology.

Instant acceleration, long range, luxury amenities, and full warranty are some of the many features that make it a viable choice for a high-performance EV without the need to go for supercar prices.

Its thunderous debut and quick deliveries point to the fact that India is now gearing up for high-end electric vehicles. As charging stations are developed and demand for EVs is rising, Cyberster sets a new benchmark for electric sports cars in India.
